Installation Guide - Electric & Dual Fuel Towel Rails

Electric Towel Rail Installation

What You Need

  • Electric towel rail (pre-filled)
  • Wall brackets (included)
  • Screws and wall plugs (included)
  • Drill and appropriate drill bit
  • Spirit level
  • Screwdriver
  • 13A electrical socket

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Choose Location

  • Near a power socket (within cable reach)
  • Clear wall space (no obstructions)
  • Minimum 50mm from floor and 100mm from ceiling
  • Check for pipes and cables in the wall

2. Mark Wall Bracket Positions

  • Hold towel rail against wall
  • Use spirit level to ensure it's straight
  • Mark bracket positions with pencil
  • Double-check measurements

3. Drill Holes

  • Use appropriate drill bit for your wall type
  • Drill holes at marked positions
  • Insert wall plugs

4. Attach Brackets

  • Screw brackets to wall
  • Ensure they're secure
  • Check they're level

5. Hang Towel Rail

  • Carefully lift towel rail onto brackets
  • Ensure it's securely seated
  • Tighten any securing screws

6. Connect Power

  • Route cable neatly to socket
  • Plug in and switch on
  • Set thermostat to desired temperature

⚠️ Safety Notes

  • IP Rating: Check bathroom zones (IP44 minimum for zones 1-2)
  • Electrical Work: Use a qualified electrician for hard-wiring
  • RCD Protection: Ensure your circuit has RCD protection
  • Ventilation: Don't cover the towel rail when heating

Dual Fuel Towel Rail Installation

Note: Dual fuel installation requires both plumbing and electrical work. We strongly recommend hiring qualified professionals.

Central Heating Connection

  • Connect to your central heating system
  • Use 15mm copper or plastic pipe
  • Install isolating valves
  • Bleed radiator after filling

Electric Element Installation

  • Insert heating element into bottom connection
  • Ensure watertight seal
  • Connect to power supply
  • Use a qualified electrician
